The Theory Test At Hero Driving School:
Multiple Choice Questions
Under UK Law, it is mandatory to pass both the driving theory test and the practical driving test to obtain a full licence. The theory test is completed by selecting answers on a touch screen computer and is based on the Highway Code, covering every aspect of safety when driving. Firstly this test is made up of 50 multiple choice questions that are randomly selected from a possible 1000, with five of the questions relating to a case study. Finally, to successfully pass the theory test you must answer 43 or more questions correctly.
Hazard Perception
The hazard perception test is taken alongside the theory test and consists of 14 one minute video clips, which of course, show a hazard that has caused a driver to stop suddenly, change speed or change direction. One of the clips will feature two hazards that you must be able to identify and you must achieve a score of at least 44 out of 75 to pass.
Furthermore, when you sign up with Hero Driving School, you will receive FREE access to Theory Test Pro. Theory Test Pro probably, the best website for preparing people for their theory and hazard perception test.

The Practical Test At Hero Driving School:
As you progress through your driving lessons and your driving skills increase to test standard, you should notice that you will feel more confident as a driver, as a result, your driving lessons will become much easier. Finally, your designated driving instructor will advise you when they think you are ready to sit your driving test and how to book this in other words, do not book your driving test without consulting with your driving instructor first as they may already have a pre-booked driving test.
Best way to do this is either online or by calling 0300 200 1122. Please note, all test fees will be payable to the DVSA at the time of booking.
Driving Test Day Preparation
First of all, it is very common, advised and standard driving practice to have a one-hour driving lesson immediately before your practical driving test.
Thus, this will allow you time to go over any areas maybe you are least confident about ask your driving instructor any questions and feel more relaxed behind the wheel before arriving at your local driving test centre. We will agree on the cost of the pre-test driving lesson and for the use of the driving school car during your test beforehand.
This will be paid to your driving instructor on the day of your test unless you have already pre-paid for this.
What Happens During Your Practical Tets
The practical driving test, in short, will last approximately 45 minutes and will be conducted by a Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) examiner. The test will begin with a standard eyesight check before you are asked two vehicles safety check questions.
These are often referred to as the ‘Show Me Tell Me‘ questions. You will then be tested on the practical skills you have covered during your lessons, which will include at least one manoeuvre and possibly an emergency stop. The examiner will ask you to drive independently for approximately 20 minutes by following their verbal directions, Satnav and/or signposts. You can find out more about the practical driving test by calling Hero Driving School today to discuss any questions you might have with a trained member of our team.
