Layer de la Haye, commonly known as Layer is a village close to Lexden in Colchester. It was originally named ‘Legra’ which meant ‘Lookout’ was a vantage point for Saxons. Furthermore, it is generally quiet as the population is circa 2,000 people. Thus, it allows student drivers to feel comfortable as the less busy roads do not place too much pressure upon them.
